Delete your account and your data
You did not create your Anvay account — your training institute did, so there is no “delete account” button that works on its own. Instead there are two routes below, and both of them work. We complete deletion requests within 30 days.
Route 1 — ask your Institute
Your training institute or sending organisation created your account and manages it. Asking them is usually the fastest route, because they can identify your record immediately.
Route 2 — write to us directly
You do not have to go through your Institute. Email us and we will handle it:
So that one email is enough, please include:
- The name of your Institute (the college, academy or agency that enrolled you).
- Your roll number or student reference at that Institute.
- If you sign in with your own email address, send the request from that address — it lets us confirm the account is yours without asking you for anything further.
- The words “delete my data”, so it is not mistaken for a support question.
We will confirm by email when the deletion is done. If we cannot identify your records from what you send us, we will write back and ask — we will not silently drop the request.
What gets deleted
Deleted
- Your account and sign-in credentials
- Your name, email address and phone number, where your Institute supplied them
- Your roll number and batch membership
- Your learning progress — lessons and exercises completed
- Your answers and mock-test scores
- Your device binding
Kept
- Anonymised, aggregate statistics — figures such as “68% of this batch passed the mock test”.
- Backups, briefly — ours are overwritten on a rolling cycle.
Aggregate figures contain no identifier of any kind and cannot be traced back to you, so there is nothing personal left in them to delete. Deleted data can sit in a backup for a short period before being overwritten; it is not restored or used in the meantime.
Why we may have to involve your Institute
Every Institute chooses how much it tells us about its students. Many choose our data-minimising default, under which we are never given student names, email addresses or phone numbers at all — we hold only a roll number, and the mapping from that roll number to a real person exists only at your Institute.
If that is how your Institute is set up, we genuinely cannot tell which records are yours without their help, and we will contact them to identify your data. This is a consequence of holding as little about you as possible, and we would rather explain it than collect more than we need.
If your Institute’s pilot or licence ends
You do not need to do anything. At the end of a free pilot we disable the accounts and delete the pilot data we hold, and on an Institute’s written request we return or delete the data we hold for it.
Your other rights
Deletion is one of several rights you have under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. You may also ask for a summary of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct or complete it, and nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf. These are covered in our privacy policy, and the same address handles all of them.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
